My Story
Dr Lajos Csönge got M.D. degree in 1986 at the Medical School of Pécs University, Hungary. As a surgical pathologist he established the biggest Hungarian musculoskeletal tissue and skin bank in 1990 at the University Teaching Hospital in GyÅ‘r. New tissue preservation methods were invented by him first in the world: freeze-drying of solid human tissues and cartilage preservation in tissue culture medium.
He invented the human and animal Bone Matrix Gelatin which is one of the best osteoinductive biomaterials.
The first and only Hungarian keratinocyte lab was established where cultured keratinocytes sheets have been produced since 1995 for severely burned patients.
He and his colleagues invented new methods in regenerative medicine especially in platelet rich products and their combination with bone grafts in 3D printed titanium scaffolds in human and veterinary medicine. A new veterinary/animal tissue bank was established in 2022 helping vets and animals.
Many training courses has been attended:
Fulbright scholar in the Puget Sound Blood Center/Northwest Tissue Center in Seattle, WA in 1995-96. Cell culture and tissue recovery courses in the US and Berlin at Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation/DIZG.
Founding member of the European Association of Tissue Banks
Author of many scientific articles about allogeneic tissues and regenerative medicine.
Assistant Editor in Chief of the journal of Cell and Tissue Banking.
President of the Hungarian Committee of Tissue & Cell Banks & Regenerative Medicine.
